FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – A deputy from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office shot an aggravated assault suspect after she allegedly attempted to run him over with her vehicle. The shooting happened along West Belfort Road near the Waterside Estates subdivision in unincorporated Richmond early Monday morning. The deputy had been attempting a traffic stop on the suspect because she was wanted in connection with another incident in Booth, Texas which is also located in Fort Bend County.
The events began to unfold around midnight.
“Deputies responded to an aggravated assault of a woman who had a severe head injury,” said Sgt. Fernando Flores of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was struck by a hammer, according to the Major Chad Norvell of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. The victim had recently allowed the suspect to move in with her. The suspect moved from Nashville. The argument was over money according to Norvell.
“The female victim was able to give a good description of the suspect’s vehicle,” Flores said.
The Chevy Camaro was located in the area of Crabb River Road and Highway 99.
The deputy attempted to stop her but she took off. Other deputies deployed spike strips. The Camaro drove over the strips and deflated the tires.
“Upon the vehicle being disabled it began driving the wrong way down West Belfort Road,” Sgt. Flores said.
The deputy thought the Camaro had finally stopped and got out of his patrol vehicle. While outside the protection of his vehicle the suspect is said to have aimed her Camero at him.
“The suspect then drove toward the deputy. The Deputy discharged his weapon into the vehicle and the suspect was wounded,” Flores said.
The suspect is described as a 30-year-old black woman. She suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso. She was taken by Lifeflight to Memorial Hermann hospital in serious but stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
