KATY/HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – Two months after sentencing, the family of a Katy man who stabbed his wife to death is still deeply shaken by the events of January 5, 2017. Rene Jaime stabbed his wife to death with a screwdriver and a fire poker in their West Memorial subdivision home.

“Rene is my older brother, I’m still in shock about this and it hurts me and my family especially my Dad,” said a family message to Covering Katy.

Jaime was sentenced to 30 years in prison for murdering his 52-year-old wife Mary.  The sentencing happened Oct. 11, 2018.

The murder happened at the couple’s home in the 22400 block of Coriander Drive at Cinnamon Drive. (see map below)

“I hope God can forgive my brother,” the family message said.

The call came in at about 9 p.m. When law enforcement arrived they found the wife’s body inside the house.

“Upon arriving, deputies discovered the victim Mary deceased from multiple apparent stab wounds,” said a statement from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office shortly after the killing.

“Deputies met with the victim’s husband, 52-year-old Rene Jaime, who stated he and the victim had gotten into an argument and a fight while their two teenage sons, ages 15 and 13, were in another room,” the statement also said. The children did not witness the murder.
