KATY (Covering Katy News) – Typhoon Texas officially kicks off its 2019 summer season Friday, May 24. Now in its fourth season, Typhoon Texas offers more than a mile of winding, twisting slide paths, Texas-size wave pool, Lazy River the length of more than five football fields and children’s Gully Washer with a gigantic, 800-gallon water bucket, slides, and more than 100 spray areas.
Opening weekend crowds also will enjoy live music by country singer, songwriter and guitarist Cooper Wade on Friday, May 24 and Top 40 hits by The Spotlights Band on Saturday, May 25. Both performances on the Tidal Wave Bay performance stage start at 4 p.m. Starting at noon on Saturday, guests will be greeted by TORO, the official mascot of the Houston Texans. They also can take free photos with several majestic Texas Longhorn steers.
As for the 2019 summer season, Typhoon Texas has added new experiences with its Sun Down Cool Down featuring light show displays, music and movie nights.
Starting June 14, guests can enjoy Friday and Saturday Slide Nights when Typhoon Texas is showered with Instagram-worthy light show displays along with music and stage games until 10:30 p.m. Thursday movie nights start July 11 when the waterpark is open until 9 p.m.

Also back for the Typhoon Texas summer season are its popular weekend summer concert series and authentic Texas barbecue, slow smoked daily right in the park and served with zesty BBQ sauce made from scratch. Guests 21 and over also can enjoy draft and bottled beer, cocktails and frozen alcoholic drinks in the Double T Bar.
Typhoon Texas also will open with several new deluxe cabanas with upgraded furnishings, privacy wall, and heat-resistant stone floor.
The waterpark is located at 555 Katy Fort Bend Rd. next to Katy Mills Mall, 1.5 miles west of the Grand Parkway. Free onsite parking is available.
