CITY OF KATY (Covering Katy News)—Santa Claus is coming to Katy to help with the lighting of the 46th Annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree.

The event, open to the public, is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 901 Avenue C.

The event will feature live entertainment from local choirs and dance companies. Santa Claus will be available for photos.

The city is also participating in the local Marine Toys for Tots drive. To donate, please bring a new, unwrapped toy to City Hall during business hours through Friday, Dec. 7. Donations are welcome at Thursday’s lighting event.

Food trucks from Great Harvest Bread and Frosted Betty Bakeshop, both of Katy, will also be at the event.

The tree lighting is the first of two special events planned for downtown Katy over the next few days. The ninth annual Historic Downtown Katy Old-Fashioned Christmas Festival is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The festival is open to the public and includes a beer garden, food trucks, a snow park, and local vendors. Santa Claus will also be present for photos.
