KATY (Covering Katy News) – Father Ryszard Kulma, the pastor of St. Edith Stein Catholic Church in Katy, has been stalked and threatened with bodily harm by Rebecca Elizabeth Richard, 43, of Houston for six years according to Harris County Criminal Court records. The documents say she has delivered her threats in person and by email and at the church as well as the priest’s residence in a neighborhood that is a short distance away from the church.

Numerous incidents have been reported to authorities by Fr. Kulma.  Richard has been charged multiple times, and she continues her behavior according to prosecutors.

St. Edith Stein Catholic Church is located at 3311 N. Fry Road between Morton and Clay Roads. The most recent incident happened October 1, 2017 when Richard is said to have shown up at Fr. Kulma’s house. The visit came after a September 30 email where prosecutors claim Richard wrote “I will take action that will result in violence, maybe even death,” and “test me and watch a family member die.”

Richard is also accused of threatening clergy members at St. Edith Stein Catholic Church in March of 2011.

Court documents call the emails “harassing, threatening, annoying and tormenting.”  In one email Richard is said to have threatened to poison the birthday cake of Fr. Kulma.

During the Oct. 1 visit to Fr. Kulma’s house, court documents say Richard is seen on surveillance video laying on the sidewalk and leaving documents and folders of information. In them, she asks the question “do you really have to love me so much to kill me?”

According to prosecutors, in Dec. 2014 Richard was captured on video leaving documents outside Fr. Kulma home stating that the two are supposed to be together sexually.

In July 2012, prosecutors say Richard wrote that she is a “ticking time bomb.” That incident was followed up by another email where Richard wrote, “I will continue to destroy you until you repent.”

Deputy constables from Harris County Precinct 5 say Richard went to the home of Fr. Kulma on June 10, 2014, and was heard on surveillance camera video saying “If I leave this house I will kill Father.”

Richard has a lengthy arrest record that goes beyond her incidents with Fr. Kulma. She had a 2010 charge of evading arrest, and she has two public lewdness charges from 1993 and 1999. She was also charged with assault on a family member in 2010.

Richard remains at the Harris County Jail.  Bond is set at $5,000.
