WEST HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy) – Deputies from the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office are investigating an early morning shooting that happened along Barker Cypress Road at about 1:30 Friday morning.
The incident reportedly began when the victim and his father-in-law were forced at gunpoint to hand over the keys to their truck. The gunman then drove off in the truck.
The two men got into another vehicle and chased the suspect along Barker Cypress Road. That’s when the carjacker opened fire.
The victim did sustain cuts to his face, but Precinct 5 spokesman Jeff McShan says it’s unclear if the man was injured by the bullet or if he was cut by the glass after the bullet came through the windshield. We expect additional information later this morning.
The victim pulled into a Stripes gas station on FM 529 and at Greenhouse Road where he went for help. He’s since been transported to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston’s Medical Center.
