KATY (Covering Katy) – Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will hang its “hot now” neon sign at 1803 South Mason Road, just south of Highland Knolls Drive in a soon to be constructed strip center.
Famous for serving warm doughnuts that have traversed a waterfall of glaze on a conveyor belt ride to the donut case, the new location will be complete with a drive-through window for customers who don’t want to leave their vehicles when they order the yeast-raised delights.
We don’t yet know the date when the Katy store will be opening, but we do know there will be competition. Shipley Do-Nuts, Just Glazed Donuts and Best Donuts are all near-by on South Mason Road.
DBA Commercial Real Estate is marketing the property to other potential tenants. Among the benefits being touted is its close proximity to an HEB supermarket, and that about 27,000 vehicles per day pass by the property.
Krispy Kreme left the Houston market in 2006 after its franchise agreement ended. In December of 2013 Dallas-based Sun Holdings agreed to franchise 10 Houston-area stores.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts can be found in approximately 12,000 grocery, convenience and mass merchant stores in the U.S. The company has more than 1,300 retail shops in 31 countries.
