City of Katy (Covering Katy) – Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers’ Fort Bend Charities, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization recently provided funding to two local Christian organizations.
Katy Christian Ministries and Simonton Christian Academy are among the charities that have received donations from Fort Bend Charities, Inc. following the recent Rancher Ball where funding was raised to help local non-profit organizations.
KCM uses the funds to support their three main outreach programs which are the Food Pantry, Social Services and the Crises Center. After their check presentation during the morning Pledges, Simonton Christian Academy’s Administrator, Amy Oglesby, took Commissioner Meyers on a tour of the school and showed him their computer lab. Mrs. Oglesby shared with the Commissioner that “because of the funds we received two years ago from Fort Bend Charities, Inc., we were able to provide a computer lab for our students.
We begin teaching Kindergarteners computer skills and by the time they are second graders they can prepare PowerPoint presentations, Excel Spreadsheets and Word Documents.”
