KATY (Covering Katy) -All lanes of the eastbound Katy Freeway near Fry Road reopened at 5:27 a.m. Sunday morning after a fatal two car crash that happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. The victim was trapped in a burning car and died at the scene. He was the once who police say caused the accident.

A male driver in a car, somehow got on the I-10 Katy Freeway going the wrong direction, going westbound in the eastbound lanes.  It’s unknown how long he was in the wrong lanes.  He ended up slamming head on into another car.

“Wrecker drivers were first on scene along with bystanders who tried to rescue the drivers and put out the fire,” said Era Kay in an email to Covering Katy. Kay was on the scene shortly after the wreck.

The other driver was taken by life-flight to the hospital according to Kay. That person’s condition is not known.
