KATY, TX (CoveringKaty.com) – The Katy Tigers ran over a 6-3 Houston Memorial football team Friday night to end the 2013 regular season undefeated in front of an ebullient home crowd at Rhodes Stadium.
Katy got on the board in the first quarter with a five yard run from Rodney Anderson. Manny Mendoza’s kick made it 7-0 and the Tigers would never look back.
The Tigers struck again in the second quarter on a Garrett Doiron pass to Andy Coonrod. Mendoza added the extra point to give Katy the 14-0 lead.
Doiron connected with Rodney Anderson at 7:13 of the third quarter and Mendoza connected on his kick to make the score 21-0 Katy.
Quarterback Kiley Huddleston connected on a 35 yard pass to Sloan Spiller in the third quarter. Mendoza kicked the ball through the uprights to give Katy a three touchdown lead at the 5:33 mark of the third quarter.
Katy’s Trent Findley scored with at 11:14 of the fourth quarter on an 8 yard run and the Tigers held Memorial scoreless and ended the regular season without a loss.
Matt Collins lead the way for Memorial in rushing with 35 yards. Katy’s Rodney Anderson rushed for 74 yards and the Tigers Kyle Porter ended the night with 65 yards on the ground.
